DUBAI’S LATEST ICONIC LANDMARK IS A SOURCE OF DISCONTENT

The Dubai Frame is a landmark project that is almost finished and set to open in the second half of this year. The Frame is a 150-meter-tall building that represents Dubai Developers evolution from a simple city to the world’s most futuristic city. In one hand, visitors to the Frame can see the magnificent views of Dubai’s advanced architecture, and on the other, they can see old Dubai. The project’s completion, however, is marred by controversy, when a foreign architect claims the Dubai municipality stole his work.

Mexican architect Fernando Donis is suing the Dubai Municipality for copyright infringement of his frame design. Donis won 1st place in the ThyssenKrupp Architectural award in 2009 for the construction of the Frame project. Donis claims he was never paid or consulted by the Dubai government about the official building of the Frame.

The Dubai government has refuted Donis’ claims of land theft, claiming that he lacks the required local permits to complete the scheme. According to the nation, Donis was properly compensated for winning the award in 2009 with a reward of $100,000.

Despite Donis’ copyright claims, the Off Plan Properties in Dubai Frame is about to launch. The Frames is a 150-meter-high, 93-meter-wide project with a spacious floor plan designed to accommodate a massive influx of visitors. The Frame in Zabeel Park was strategically designed by the Dubai Municipality to enable visitors to see the best views of both traditional and modern Dubai. Views of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest hotel, as well as adjacent skyscrapers, will be included in the new Dubai. Deira, Umm Harare, and Karama will be part of Dubai’s old side. Visitors will be able to lounge in a cafe at the summit while taking in panoramic views of Dubai’s skyline.
